Sparkfactor provided comprehensive mechanical engineering support for the MacBook Air SuperDrive, the external CD/DVD USB drive that accompanies the ultra-thin MacBook Air laptop computer.

Sparkfactor's Role:

* Contributed to preliminary configuration studies
* Performed complete part, PCB, and assembly CAD creation, manufacturability revision, and production specification drawing compilation
* Coordinated prototype fabrication in-house and with outside shops
* Devised a unique snap assembly scheme, minimized part count, and worked out a compact cable strain relief arrangement
